CWU Libraries' Maps Collection

The CWU Libraries maps collection contains approximately 90,000 sheet maps available to be checked out. Atlases and other materials covering a variety of geographic areas and topics are also available. The Maps, Atlases, and Cartographic Resources research guide provides help finding and using maps.

Geography & Map Reading Room (Library of Congress): Access the largest collection of maps and cartographic materials in the world brought to you by the Geography and Maps division of the Library of Congress.
Library of Congress Map Collection: Access a variety of maps from the Library of Congress' American Memory website.
The National Map (U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Geospatial Program): A collaborative effort among the USGS and other Federal, State, and local partners created to improve and deliver topographic information for the Nation. It has many uses ranging from recreation to scientific analysis to emergency response.
Perr-Castaneda Library Map Collection (University of Texas Libraries): Access of 300 maps of the United States including historical maps and city maps.
Earth Explorer (USGS): Access earth science data from the archives of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Earth Explorer provides an enhanced user interface using state-of-the-art technologies for searching, viewing, and downloading data.

Census Bureau (U.S. Department of Commerce): Find Congressional district maps, gazetteers, official place names for the U.S. and much more from the most prolific creator of statistics and maps in the country.
Fish and Wildlife Service (U.S. Department of the Interior): Find maps in the "Places to go" section to find a plethora of maps relating to recreational activities around the U.S.
Forest Service (U.S. Department of Agriculture): Find maps on national forests and grasslands. The Forest Service also has their own topographic maps for quadrangles located within national forest boundaries.
Geological Survey (U.S. Department of the Interior): Access topographic, thematic, geological, climactic, biological maps and more! Maps produced by this agency date back tot eh 1800's
National Agricultural Statistics Service (U.S. Department of Agriculture): Access the Census of Agriculture, a complete count of U.S. farms and ranches and the people who operate them, and Agricultural Statistics, an annual publication that includes data on agricultural production, supplies, consumption, facilities, costs, and returns and is intended as a reference for common use.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administratcion (U.S. Department of Commerce): Access current and historical daily weather maps going as far back as 1871 as well a historical maps and charts going as far back as the 1700's.
