Graduate Student Library Orientation

A virtual introduction to Brooks Library and its resources.

Financial Aid

While every student would love to have a financial aid award package full of scholarships and grants, the reality is that most students will have to use at least some loans. To be considered for federal and state aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once you have submitted the FAFSA the information is processed by the United States Department of Education and sent to the schools of your choice. Apply for FAFSA here.

Per Federal regulations, all students accepted into a master’s program are required to be enrolled in at least five credits at the 501 level or above to receive graduate-level loans. Courses within the 400 level may be approved for loan funding if required for degree completion. These courses must be documented on the Graduate Course of Study form and approved by the Graduate office. The Graduate office will submit approved forms to the financial aid office. Courses at the 100, 200, and 300 level are not applicable to a master's degree at CWU and are not eligible for graduate level loans.

Scholarships

CWU offers a variety of scholarships. grants, and waivers for Washington resident, out-of-state, and international students. You can view a list of funding resources on the financial aid website. You can also access scholarships from myCWU.

Below is a list of other outside Scholarship links (if you are going to use any of these search engines be sure to set up a separate email account; you might get spam from these sources).

CWU Employment

One employment option for graduate students is applying for a graduate assistantship. A graduate assistantship is a salaried student employment opportunity for graduate students. Graduate assistants work a set number of hours per week and, in return, receive a tuition waiver and, oftentimes, a monthly living stipend. Contact your department or check their website for graduate assistantship opportunities. The CWU Library also offers graduate assistantships and student employment  jobs. Click here to learn more about library employment opportunites.

CWU also offers employment on campus, as well as resources to apply to off campus jobs, work study, volunteer opportunities, and internships. You can access these resources on your myCWU account. They will be located under the student dashboard in the student employment tab.
