PSY 300 - Research Methods

Basic Searching

The quickest way to start your research is to type your topic into the search box on the library's homepage.

By default, this box searches for books, articles, ebooks, videos, and more at CWU and in all Summit libraries, a group of over 35 academic libraries throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

Advanced Searching

Once you get to the search results screen you can quickly narrow your results by clicking:

  • Show Only: Peer-reviewed journals
  • Resource Type: Articles

To further narrow your results:

Change the creation date to 2000-2017 to see only recent articles.

Change the language to English to see only English results.

Clicking Full Text Online will limit your results to articles that you can read online right now. Sometimes you'll see results for articles that we only have in print, or articles that we don't have but can request from another library. If you need the full article immediately, click on Full Text Online, but know that you might be missing out on useful information.

Using Your Library Account

If you log in to your library account with your CWU ID, you can save any articles you're interested in for later simply by clicking the pin next to the title.

To find the articles again later, just sign in and click on the Favorites tab.

Make sure you are signed in before you begin starring articles or the articles will be lost!
