Niche Academy

PADstone 184 courses at CWU are meant to help students transition to college by introducing them to a scholarly approach to problem solving and methods of inquiry. These courses incorporate writing, critical thinking, oral communication, and information literacy. Niche Academy can be utilized to help meet the following outcome of 184 courses at CWU:

• Engage in a library-led information literacy session and apply best practices for evaluating information sources in scholarly research.

Niche Academy's Research Essentials tutorials provide information on:

• Finding the Right Sources (finding and selecting relevant sources, reading academic articles, etc.)
• Common Sources and Search Tools (identifying primary and secondary sources, popular and scholarly sources, catalogs and databases, etc.)
• Effective Search Techniques (using boolean search operators, creating keyword combinations, refining results, etc.)

Add each tutorial to your course by copying and pasting the tutorials URL into a Canvas module. These tutorials can also be used to supplement a librarian led information literacy session (in-person or virtually). Request a library session here.
